Council Committees

Executive Committee 

This committee shall consist of the elected officers of the Council (Chair, Vice-Chair, 
Secretary, and Treasurer) and the Chairs of the standing committees. The immediate Past Chair of the Council shall serve as an ex-officio (non-voting) member of the Executive Committee.
This committee shall be responsible for Council policy and input as needed in the interim between Council meetings.

 

Rules, Policy and Procedures Committee 

The functions of this committee include, but are not limited to:

  1. The Chair shall function in the role of the Parliamentarian during regular Council 
    meetings to ensure that Robert’s Rules of Order are followed, and that all actions taken 
    by the council are in compliance with the Constitution and Bylaws of the Council.
  2. Maintaining an updated list of seats and the members occupying those seats.
  3. Reviewing the Bylaws with Council members at the July Council meeting.
  4. Preparing amendments and revisions to the Council Constitution and Bylaws.
  5. Preparing regulations for elections and the conducting and supervising of such elections.
  6. Recommending the creation or abolishment of standing and special committees.
  7. Recommending procedures for staff participation in the government of the University.
  8. Reviewing current personnel policies.
  9. Making recommendations for policy changes that affect staff employees.

 

Communications Committee 

The functions of this committee include, but are not limited to:

  1. Keeping the University community informed of all activities of the Council through whatever channels of communication are deemed necessary. 
  2. Maintaining the Council web page.
  3. Posting pertinent information to social media sites.

 

Awards and Recognition Committee 

The functions of this committee include, but are not limited to:

  1. Developing and implementing policies and procedures related to the presentation of annual awards and recognition of staff members of Oklahoma State University including the Distinguished Service Award.
  2. Administering the nomination and selection process for such awards.
  3. Conducting the awards presentations. 
  4. Responsibility for other awards and recognition of staff as such arises.
  5. Developing, implementing, and administering policies and procedures related to the Staff Advisory Council Scholarship Program.

Events Committee 

The functions of this committee include, but are not limited to:

  1. Making all necessary arrangements for a charitable drive.
  2. Planning and implementing the annual Staff Celebration Day, including but not limited to location, vendor set up, and entertainment. 
  3. Recruiting vendors and obtaining donations for Staff Celebration Day.

 

Access, Community and Engagement Committee 

The functions of this committee may include, but are not limited to:

  1. Review existing policies and processes related to the recruitment, retention, and 
    inclusion of all staff, particularly from underrepresented groups on campus. If needed, 
    develop new guidelines, processes, or policy recommendations to enhance and promote 
    access to and engagement with campus resources in pursuit of a vibrant campus 
    community.
  2. Assess the OSU climate and address findings to enhance working conditions and 
    employee morale. Work collaboratively with university stakeholders in pursuit of this 
    goal.
  3. Coordinate with University Human Resources to communicate concerns of staff 
    members as it relates to staff access, community, and engagement.
  4. Develop, enhance, and promote staff community-building opportunities during SAC 
    events such as the Distinguished Service Awards Ceremony and Staff Celebration Day. 
    Help promote events such as Heritage Month celebrations that engage the entire 
    campus community. Advocate for inclusive practices and programming developed both 
    for and by staff.
  5. Collaborate with other Staff Advisory Council committees to promote access, 
    community, and engagement as part of their initiatives. Consider Staff Advisory 
    Council policies, procedures, and structures, in conjunction with other Staff Advisory 
    Council members, to continue to ensure staff access and engagement on the council.
  6. Develop knowledge on hidden and emerging populations in order to provide guidance 
    on standard practices.
  7. Maintain and expand caregivers digital hub and collaborate with other campus 
    organizations to identify and support opportunities for community members.
